MoneyObedience is Also Here to Stay
March 4th, 2010Yes, we know we’ve taking a long break from blogging. Please forgive us if we tell you right away what we have been doing instead! We want to share this with you since we are pretty excited about the fruits of our efforts. We feel like a little kid who wants to show you the latest trick she can do. (Don’t you love it when the innocent feelings of our childhood come back to us as adults?)
What we did was set up our new website: www.moneyobedience.com! You may be surprised to find out that it deals with personal finance, money, and how to control our money. We kind of started this site thinking of the similarities between one’s relationship to a beloved but not necessarily well behaved pet, and one’s relationship to one’s money. We love our pets, but we also know that pets need some effort on our end to allow them and us live comfortably in the same house. The same goes for money. We all love to have some, but we must also make sure that we can live comfortably with our money. Imagine one’s money situation out of control! And imagine a home where the pet is out of control. See what we mean? A home where the pet is in control, and more than that but a loving companion, and a home where money is both in control and serving to make our lives better and happier – well, that’s the goal!
What’s that you say? There are many other sites that cover personal finance. Yep, you’re right. And on some of them you enter your financial data and you get to look at pretty charts and maybe not so pretty tables full of numbers. But we think MoneyObedience adds something to the personal finance sphere.
MoneyObedience caters to the group of people who are not very comfortable interpreting charts (even if the charts are pretty), reading not so pretty tables full of numbers, or even addressing personal finance issues. The users of MoneyObedience will be able to look at charts and tables, but we can tell you right away that neither our charts nor our tables are as pretty as other sites create them. Instead of making pretty charts and not so pretty tables, MoneyObedience creates something quite different: MoneyObedience generates user-specific reports on various aspects of personal finance in plain English, avoiding numbers as much as possible.
We trust that this service will help users who are a little scared of numbers and math. Our users will be able to get an understanding of their own finances and suggestions how to improve them without having to learn how to interpret such things as other site’s pretty charts and tables. As I said, the charts and tables are replaced by written text that is tailored to each user. Just to show you how fine-tuned these reports are, please take a look at this sample report. It is one of 6000 unique reports generated for debt alone. All other reports like the expense report, the net worth report, etc. also generate thousands of unique reports that take a user’s individual circumstances into account when generating the text for each report. Pretty cool, eh?
We envision the site as a living entity, sort of like a pet. To make it grow nicely, we would love to hear comments and feedback from you. Don’t forget, “It takes a village to raise a child” so we’d love to hear what you think about our baby! Thank you all in advance for your feedback and for your interest in MoneyObedience!
